Welcome Back and Welcome to IVMS!
Welcome! We are very excited to have you with us for the first time or for another year! We ask that you remain patient with us over the next week. Please expect that dismissal will take a bit longer and that our staff may not have every answer to every question right away. We have many good systems in place to keep us all in order. It will just take a few days to get everyone used to everything.
If you participate in car line, please remain in your car and display your dismissal card on the passenger side of the dash board. Make sure your child’s name and LE # are prominently displayed and face out so that the writing appears upside down to you. It will help us read the card faster. For better security, the color of this card changes every year.
We will not call your child should you decide to park and come onto campus. REMEMBER TO CARRY YOUR PURPLE CARD DURING DISMISSAL AND ARRIVAL TIMES so that we can identify you as someone who should be on campus. Please do not get angry at us as we remind you about this important policy. We want an open door feeling to our school, but we also need to know that everyone who is on campus should be on campus.
Only give out these cards to people on your child’s emergency pick up list. If you do give the card out to someone who is not on the list, stop into the office so we can add them. We are depending on you to manage this for your family. We will not release a student to someone who is not listed as an approved person to pick up. Only parents and guardians of students have the ability to make changes to this list and pick up a blue card for a child. Program principals have the right to override parental/guardian decisions if they are counterproductive to the calm operation of our school. Thanks in advance for your understanding.
Once school begins, EVERYONE must check into the office to obtain a RAPTOR security badge. This is a policy of Sarasota County Schools as well as ours. Again, please do not get angry if someone directs you to get this badge. We are simply ensuring that all students are safe while on our campus.
Early release ends 1/2 hour before your child’s regular day ends. Afterwards, everyone must participate in the regular dismissal schedule. If you have a doctor’s appointment and need to pick up your child early, you MUST do so more than 1/2 hour before school ends for your child.
